Dorothy (Dixon) Whittle, Age 82 of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Louisville. Born on Saturday, February 12,1944, in Henry County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Riley and Mary Elizabeth (Washburn) Dixon. A talented seamstress throughout her life, Dorothy worked for 20 plus years at Logan’s Linens in Shelbyville. Over the years, she sewed and cross-stitched many cherished gifts for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Point Pleasant Christian Church, where she formerly served on the board and taught Sunday school. A good cook, she was known for her fudge and chocolate pies. A loving mother and “Mommaw D”, she was devoted to her family and loved them immensely. When not taking care of her family, she enjoyed the quiet pleasure of reading. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Whittle and her sister, Margaret Yount.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Whittle and Becky Detwiler, both of Smithfield; grandchildren, Jessica Moore (Doug) and Clinton Spinks (Taylor) both of Frankfort; great-grandchildren, Todd Moore (Reyna), Dawson Moore, Allie Moore, Kiendra Johnston, and Levi Spinks all of Frankfort.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Beckley Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Rayborn Officiating. Interment will take place in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service on Saturday. With care and professionalism, arrangements are under the direction of Beckley Funeral Home.
