Gertrude "Gertie" Jean (Tingle) McClaskey

August 20, 1935 — July 26, 2025

Turners Station

Gertrude “Gertie” Jean (Tingle) McClaskey, Age 89 of Turners Station, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at her residence with her loving family by her side. Daughter of the late Leonard Gladys (Davis) and Henry Tingle, she was one of nine children among the Tingle family. Throughout her entire life, she held a tight bond with her siblings and family, looking forward to the annual family reunions. She and her sisters spent many days playing cards, rolling dice and sharing memories. Gertrude had a lengthy career at Dayton-Walther manufacturing in Carrollton and retired after years of dedication to the company. Upon her retirement she fully embraced her role as “mamaw” and blessed her grandchildren immensely. A woman of christian faith, she lived her life as an example to her children and grandchildren. Gertrude endured many difficult losses in her life, but her strength never wavered. She was always strong, kind and smiling. Her favorite past times included fishing, bird watching and growing flowers. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grafton McClaskey; her daughter, Cinda Lea Sharp; her three sons, Mark Thomas, Steven Bruce and Kevin Ray McClaskey; and her three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Charles Dennis (Carol) McClaskey of Shelbyville; her sisters, Mary Evelyn Gass of Louisville, and Maxine Copley (Earl) of Turners Station; her grandchildren, Miranda Runion of Turners Station, Randy Sharp, jr. (Ada) of New Castle, and Savannah McClaskey of Taylorsville; her 7 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
