Hubbert "Stubby" Snider

July 24, 1945 — September 26, 2025

Lockport

Hubbert “Stubby” Snider, Age 80 of Lockport, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at his residence. A lifelong resident of Lockport, he was born on Tuesday, July 24, 1945, to the late Hubbert Chowning and Martha Agnes (Obrien) Snider. Growing up across the street from the church, he was a lifetime member of Lockport Baptist Church. Beginning as a little boy in the field, his life was spent as a farmer. What began as a dairy farm, evolved to tobacco and cattle throughout his many long years of labor. In addition to farming, he thoroughly enjoyed being a rural route mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 15 years. Known to all by his chosen nickname “Stubby”, he loved to joke, poke fun at people and have good conversations. His family and especially grandchildren, brought great joy and fulfillment to his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay (Oliver) Snider in March of 2004, as well as several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Craigmyle (John), and Rebecca Snider both of Lockport; grandchildren, Ashley Bates (Vincent) of Turners Station, Austin Craigmyle (Amy) of Lockport, and Dryden Williams of Frankfort; great-grandchildren, Luke, Josie, and Henry Bates; brothers, Mike Snider (Gay) of Shelbyville, and Fred Snider (Patsy) of Gratz; sister, Miriam Shouse (Ted) of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
