James Kevin Brown, Age 58 of Eminence, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his residence. Born on Thursday, August 10, 1967, he was the son of the late Jimmy Lee and Dottie Catherine (Kirby) Brown. One of the five Brown children, he grew up in LaGrange and graduated from Oldham County High School. James had a lengthy career of over 30 years as a property manager at the rest areas off I71 North/South, as well as, at the Simpsonville Welcome Center. He enjoyed his work, taking care of the grounds and greeting visitors with kindness and a smile. He was currently employed at Kittrich Corporation in Shelbyville, Kentucky, where he had devoted the last 3 years to. Affectionately known by his friends as “KB”, he enjoyed watching sports and was a passionate University of Louisville Cardinals Fan. James loved spending time with his family, especially his great-great nephew, Cayden, who brought him great joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Diana Brown, and Susan Brown; and his two brothers, Barry and Steven Brown.

His survivors include his niece, April Kelley of Eminence; his great-niece, Jaden Kelley; great-nephew, Cody Kelley (Kelsey) of Eminence, and his great-great nephew, Cayden Kelley of Eminence.

James was cremated and there will be no services. To help with funeral expenses the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to Beckley Funeral Home by cash, check or credit card via telephone at 502-878-2521.
