James A. "Jim" Taylor

James A. “Jim” Taylor, Age 81 of Pleasureville, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Norton Audubon Hospital with his devoted family by his side. Born on Thursday, May 17, 1945, he was the son of the late Sep Lewis and Ollie Meda (Dunaway) Taylor. A dedicated employee of the Ford Motor Company in Louisville, Jim retired with a remarkable 36 years of service. He was a member of Pleasureville Baptist Church. Jim was a happy man, who greeted everyone with a smile and a quick joke to follow. He enjoyed gardening and cheering on the University of Kentucky Basketball team. Jim loved spending time with his family and especially liked to cook for them. Almost every week, he fixed Sunday dinners, complete with his special homemade biscuits. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Rick Taylor; sister, Gale Rutherford; and nephew, Steve Rutherford.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of over 58 years, Geri Taylor of Pleasureville; children, Tim Taylor (Pam) of Pleasureville, Kem Holthouser (Mike) of Pleasureville, Ray Taylor of Louisville, and Tammy Taylor of Pleasureville; sister, Vicky Nichols (Kenny) of Pleasureville; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Beckley Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Downing of Pleasureville Baptist Church Officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasureville Baptist Church Building Fund. With Care and Professionalism, arrangements are under the direction of Beckley Funeral Home.
