Jeanette Marie (Smith) Duty, Age 79 of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Shelbyville. Born on Wednesday, December 4, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Rudy A. and Nina Evelyn (Moudy) Smith. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky as an unemployment insurance auditor. A devoted wife, mother and MoMo, she will be remembered for love of family, humor and competitive spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and engaging in friendly card games that last well into the night. Jeanette was an amazing cook, known within her family for her cabbage rolls, pecan pie, and homemade doughnuts. She will be missed dearly by her loving daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her forever neighbors in Henry County. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Clyde Duty who passed away unexpectedly in 1993 and her son-in-law, Gregory Kleiman.

She is survived by her daughters, Rachel (Duty) Jones of Crowley, Texas, and Regina (Duty) Kleiman of Graham, North Carolina; grandson, Jacob Jones of Shepherdsville; granddaughters, Liesel and Hazel Kleiman of Graham, North Carolina; great-grandson, Wayne Jones of Shepherdsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Beckley Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Platt of Highland Baptist Church Officiating. Interment will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Beckley Funeral Home and from 10 AM until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to an organization she generously supported over the years, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. With care and professionalism, arrangements are under the direction of Beckley Funeral Home.
