Kathy Marie (Lawson) Simpson, Age 65 of Campbellsburg, gained her heavenly reward on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with her devoted and caring family by her side. Born on Wednesday, December 21, 1960, in LaGrange, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Norma Jean (Dickerson) Lawson and the late Curtis Lawson. As a little girl she grew up in Louisville and attended Jeffersontown Highschool. What began as high school sweethearts evolved into a lifetime of love, marriage, and family with her husband, Timmy. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grammy and great-grammy, always thinking of her family first. Laundry became not just a chore, but a hobby she enjoyed immensely. Cooking all the time, her talents will be greatly missed by those who enjoyed her peach cobbler, cole slaw, hot chocolate pudding and meatloaf balls. Over the years, she shared her sewing skills with many, creating cloth blanket bags for friends and family. A devout Christian woman, her faith and trust in God exceeded her earthly trials and illnesses. She was a member of The Pentecostals of Louisville Church for over 30 years before joining Restoration Life Church in Eminence. At church she not only worshipped the Lord enthusiastically, but served Him in the ladies’ ministry, hospitality ministry, taught Sunday School and wrote cards for the card ministry. In addition to her father, Kathy is preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Bickel.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Timmy Simpson of Campbellsburg; daughters, Amanda Wisehart (Reid) of Shepherdsville, and Brandi Luttrell (Michael) of New Castle; adopted son, Frankie Pinuelas of California; Grandchildren, Katie Gibson (Devan), and Kaden Wisehart of Shepherdsville, and Alivia Bettis, Zain Bettis, and Jacob Luttrell of New Castle; great-grandson, Oaks Gibson; mother, Norma Jean Lawson of Jeffersontown; brothers, Curt Lawson (Linda) and Anthony Lawson (Tina) both of Jeffersontown, Jeff Lawson (Donna) of Taylorsville, Mike Lawson, and Greg Lawson (Diana) both of Louisville; sister, Becky Shephard (Keith) of Beaver Dam; along with several nieces and nephews.
