A single mom most of her life, she did everything she could for her son, with whom she cherished more than life.
Kathy Marie Tingle, Age 70 of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital following a hard battle with lung cancer. Born on Saturday, March 17, 1956, in Frankfort, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Luther Thomas and Dale (Downey) Tingle. Growing up in Franklinton, she was a lifelong member of Franklinton Baptist Church. She experienced many wonderful moments there; from being baptized as a young girl, to watching her son, grow to become the pastor, preaching and singing each Sunday. A single mom most of her life, she did everything she could for her son, with whom she cherished more than life. Kathy worked for state government for over 30 years as an administrative specialist for the Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction. Although she enjoyed her work, she retired to take care of her grandkids. Before they were even born, Katlynn and Greyson were the highlight of her life. She adored them and loved being their Nanny. Throughout her life, music was always a constant. She enjoyed listening to live music, especially if Willie Nelson or her son, Jamie, were playing. A card shark, Kathy spent many hours playing hand and foot with her close friends and family. Her favorite past times included fishing with her family, as well as watching television shows and movies. Her favorite show was “I Love Lucy”. Kathy was a beloved mother, mom #2, nanny, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on for generations in the hearts she touched, and she will dwell in the house of the lord forever.
She is survived by her beloved son, Brother Jamie Tingle (Amy); granddaughter, Katlynn Tingle; and grandson, Greyson Tingle, all of Eminence; sisters, Patsy Temple (Phillip) of Lawrenceburg, and Linda Brown of Franklinton; several nieces and nephews, and many close cousins.
