Mac Banta

Mac Banta, Age 75 of Pleasureville, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Shelbyville Hospital. Born on Monday, February 5, 1951, he was the son of the late Marvin Dean and Margaret Mae (Eldridge) Banta. A strong man of faith, Mac grew up in and was baptized at Pleasureville Baptist Church. He chaperoned many youth camps and school trips; always an example to young men. Throughout his life, he worked hard supporting his family. He began his career at Trailmobile where his welding skills shined as he fixed tanker trailers. A great carpenter, he and his dad, worked in construction building houses, framing and installing trim. Mac ended his career at Citizens Union Bank in Shelbyville, where he was the maintenance technician and property manager. Outside of work, he devoted his life to his wife and family. Married on Saturday, September 20, 1980, he and Teresa shared over 45 years of love, laughter and precious memories. They loved each other dearly, and loved life together, raising their son Zac, and spoiling their grandchildren, Lilly and Luke. Mac rarely missed a ball game his grandchildren played in. He himself loved playing softball, and enjoyed bowling with his dad and brothers, along with hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Grigsby) Banta of Pleasureville; son, Zac Banta (Kristian) of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Lilly Kate and Luke Parker Banta; siblings, Shirley Robinson, Butch Banta (Sue), and Chuck Banta, all of New Castle, and a host of nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Pleasureville Baptist Church. Kevin Whitt, Josh McFarland and Stephen Grigsby will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the church. To honor Mac’s memory and his battle with Parkinsons, memorial contributions may be made to the The Parkinson's Foundation.
