Naomi “Nanny” Peyton, Age 82 of New Castle, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. Born on Monday, March 20, 1944, in Henry County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Lee and Lula Pearl (Maupin) Peyton. A lifelong caregiver and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was always taking care of others and making sure everyone was fed. She kept and raised many grandchildren, as well as helped and cared for her parents in their later years. Known to all as “Nanny”, she was loved much and her memory will be treasured by many. She enjoyed watching old westerns and hallmark movies, collecting angels and antique dolls, putting curlers in her hair and eating ice cream. Naomi adored her pet ferret and her old dog “Nikki” with whom she missed dearly. In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby and Lawrence Peyton; sisters, Ida “Sis” Clark, Jaunita Raisor, Belle and Linnie Chisholm, Callie Woods, and Patsy Lindsey; granddaughter, Ashley Kemp; and great-granddaughter, Aleah Preston.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Holcomb-Murphy of New Castle, Tammy Holcomb-Mclennan of New Castle, Norma Jean Kemp (Doug) of Eminence, Anita Holcomb (Angie Taulbee) of Shelbyville, and Tabitha Holcomb (Kenny Harp) of New Castle; son, Walker “Ray” Holcomb, Sr. of New Castle; brother, Larry Peyton (Sue) of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Roy and Glenda Holcomb, Robin Smith, Patricia Murphy, Michael Kemp, Carl Downey, and Josh Holcomb; 27 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Beckley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. With care and professionalism, arrangements are under the direction of Beckley Funeral Home.
