Roselyn Lorraine Ethington, Age 80 of Shelbyville, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with her loving family by her side. Born on Friday, September 7, 1945, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Huston and Naomi (Chisholm) Ethington. One of eleven, she grew up in Defoe with her brothers and sisters, who she remained close with throughout her life. Roselyn worked hard for 30 years before her retirement at The General Electric Company in Louisville. A faithful Christian, she was a member of Cropper Christian Church, and most regularly attended Crossroads Lighthouse Church, Elmburg Baptist Church and Grub Ridge Church. A lifetime softball player, Roselyn played well into her sixties for the Kentucky Phillies, traveling across the country, having great success that took the team to the Senior Softball World Series and the Senior Olympics. A game show fanatic, Roselyn was lucky enough to appear on the Price Is Right show in 1994. She won cash, televisions, a recliner and even a brand-new car, but her most favorite prize was a kiss from the infamous Bob Barker. In addition to watching game shows, she enjoyed cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, working in her flower garden and designing floral arrangements. In addition to her parents, Roselyn is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lauren Beth Edwards, sisters, Elizabeth Hunt, and Mary Sue Ethington; brothers, Hubert Logan, Jimmy, Oscar David, and Eddie “Possum” Ethington.
She is survived by her daughters, Terina Bryant (Ralph) of Eminence, and Anita Roberson of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Megan Finch (Justin) of Eminence, Edwin Lee Bryant (Amanda) of Eminence, Christopher Corbett of Shelbyville, Billy Roberson (Stevy) of Port Royal, and Courtney Roberson (Josh) of Pleasureville; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Teresa McKee (Dave) of Frankfort, Patsy Brewer of Frankfort, and Beverly Creasy of Shelbyville; brother, Wayne Ethington of Defoe, many nieces and nephews, and a host of family.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Beckley Funeral Home. Reverend Nathan Shaw of Crossroads Lighthouse Church will Officiate and Reverend Brad Jennings of Elmburg Baptist Church will have prayer. Interment will take place in Defoe Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Beckley Funeral Home and from 11AM until the time of service on Friday. To honor her church attendance, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Lighthouse Church or to Elmburg Baptist Church.
