Sylvia Fisher, Age 97 of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at New Castle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on Saturday, February 14,1929, in Trimble County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Rose Mary (Gammons) Jones. The widow of Delbert Michael Fisher, they were married on January 8, 1949. Together they shared 48 years of marriage, raising three sons, nourishing a family, and farming before his passing in 1997. Slyvia was a caring and loving woman who devoted her life and everything she had to her family. More of a farmer than a homemaker, she worked hard each and every day to help provide. From milking cows before dawn, helping with crops and gardening, to canning vegetables well into the evening, there wasn’t much she didn’t do. Her long life of 97 years reflected her resilience and hard work ethic. She loved her family deeply, but also had great compassion for animals, and enjoyed her pets over the years. In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wayne Fisher; granddaughter, Jennifer Fisher; brothers, Doug Jones and Ray Jones; and a sister, Shirley Jones.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Michael Fisher (Anita) and Glenn Allen Fisher, both of Lockport; grandchildren, Karen MaGruder (Thad) and Gary Fisher, both of Lockport; 5 great-grandchildren, Allison MaGruder of Lockport, Bailey Fisher (Aiden) of Louisville, Gracie Fisher of Louisville, Micah MaGruder of Lockport and Dennis Fisher of LaGrange; a great-great-granddaughter, Raylynn and nieces and nephews.
