Trenton Ashley

October 14, 1988 — June 3, 2026

Eminence

My sweet husband, Trenton Elliott Ashley, was born on October 14, 1988, weighing in at 10 pounds, 15.5 ounces, and 23.5 inches long. He grew to be 6 feet 9 inches, which is the first thing everyone saw, along with his bright smile. He loved so big and so deeply. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 37.

Trent was so easy to talk to, and his presence was so captivating, making others feel seen and accepted for who they truly were. Trent loved the Lord and his family with passion, which was evident in his life. Trent gave us such a beautiful life. He was our protector and safe place. He led our family so well, so faithfully, and is a hero to our boys, Liam and Eli. I’m forever grateful to have known, loved, and been cared for by him in the time we had together. He brought so much purpose and meaning to our life and challenged me in a good way, often knowing me better than I knew myself. Trent was incredibly grateful and honored God called him to be a dad. He would never say this, but he was the epitome of a great dad, always teaching and treating them as the gift they are from God.

He was a beloved son and brother, deeply devoted to his “Momma” and cherished by his three older sisters, who loved and cared for him as if he had four mothers. His love, loyalty, and tender heart will remain one of their greatest earthly gifts.

Trent loved to learn and was always up for trying something new. He could fix and build anything, solve any problem, and was wildly creative and brilliant. He brought every idea and dream we had to life. He was faithful in any and all roles — as my husband, a daddy, son, brother, friend, coach, and in his work. Trent was an inspector for LaGrange Utilities and was loved so much by his coworkers. He coached our son’s baseball teams and was so passionate about pouring into those boys.

He is survived by the love of his life, Katy Ashley of Eminence; sons, Liam and Eli Ashley; mother and stepfather, Patty Martin (Billy) of Louisville; sisters, Elizabeth Pifer (Tom) of Louisville, Erica Clinton (Chris) of Arkansas, and Abigail (Ashley) Sweeney (Damien) of Louisville; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Doreen Fitzgerald of Eminence; sisters-in-law, Jerusha Fitzgerald of Morehead, Sharone Robinson (Brian) of Ohio, and Kennedy Wolfe (Crosse) of Simpsonville; brother-in-law, Micah Fitzgerald (Kyla) of Eminence; and many cherished nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle TEA.

Trent is irreplaceable to all of us. We are so incredibly devastated by the loss of him. We’ve seen the Lord show up in so many ways and are forever grateful for how everyone has surrounded us. His love was a reflection of Jesus, and the impact of the way he lived and loved will continue to ripple through our family, this community, and into eternity.

In our song, it says, “forever could never be long enough for me, to feel like I’ve had long enough with you…” Thirty-seven years on Earth was not enough time, and we will never understand why. We will miss you forever, and your legacy will be here with us forever. We will always speak of your life and your goodness. We can’t wait until the day we will see you again. 1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.” We love you more than we ever told you. In honor of Trent, my prayer is that the people you love know and feel your love, because that’s how Trent loved me.
